A guy puffing a cigarette

Smoking is never an option for anybody, ever.
Smoking is very common everywhere, especially in the Philippines. Essentially, it is just and inhalation and exhalation of the fumes of a burning plant material wrapped in paper, but why is it so popular?
The substance that is causing all the rage in cigarettes is a substance called Nicotine. It is a drug that naturally occurs in tobacco and is said to be just as addictive as heroin and cocaine. This is why cigarette smoking is very dangerous. Because this substance can get in to your brain and will produce temporary pleasure. Once it goes away, you will feel the need to light some more due to withdrawal symptoms – you will feel the need to have some more. And once you do, it’s hard to stop.
Smoking is not just any activity that you do everyday, it is an addiction. It eats you up, both figuratively and literally. First it consumes your mind. The first time you puff your first cigarette you feel a sense of relief, satisfaction you’ve never experienced before. Sure it feels good in the start, but it worsens as days pass by. You light another stick and you realize you’ve already had a dozen and it already consumed your money. A few packs more and it’ll consume your time. The worse part is that you don’t even realize it until it’s too late. Next thing you know, you realize that the only difference between a normal life and a broken family is puffing one more stick of cigarette. It destroys the lives of people, their relationship with others, and worst of all, it destroys their bodies as well.
“Quitting smoking is a hard thing to do, and it’s important to provide as much help and encouragement as we can to the person attempting to quit.”
Cynthia Williams
